Are pharmacy assistants and technicians the same?+
No. Assistants support the pharmacy team and work within their employer’s procedures and supervision. Technicians have a distinct technical role and, in regulated provinces, must meet registration requirements. Responsibilities vary by jurisdiction and workplace.
Do I need pharmacy experience to get started?+
Not always for assistant roles. Employers may look for college training, customer service skills or provide on-the-job training. The technician route has specific education, certification and registration requirements. Read the actual job posting or regulator’s guidance.
Can my education from outside Canada count?+
It may be relevant, but recognition is not automatic. For technician roles, check both PEBC’s international evaluation eligibility and your provincial regulator’s accepted pathway before applying or paying fees. Assistant employers assess your background against their hiring requirements.
Do I need PEBC certification to be an assistant?+
PEBC’s pharmacy technician certification is not a general entry requirement for pharmacy assistant jobs. Assistant education and training requirements vary by employer. Do not assume that an assistant course qualifies you for technician registration.
Does KashPharma offer a licence or guarantee a job?+
No. KashPharma provides independent career information and planning tools. It is not a regulator, an accredited college or a recruitment agency. Licensing decisions belong to regulators, and hiring decisions belong to employers.
How much does it cost, and how long does it take?+
There is no single timeline or price. Your prior education, chosen program, exam eligibility and provincial requirements all matter. Check current tuition, assessment fees and processing times directly with the college, PEBC and your regulator before committing.
